Perfectly Easy Corn on the Cob – Farm Fresh Fridays

shucking farm fresh corn

This is my husband’s trick to perfectly cooked farm fresh corn on the cob (which we get at our weekly farmers market). We send the boys out to the porch to husk the ears of corn while we prepare the grill for cheeseburgers from the butcher. We cut huge slices of fresh tomato from the market for our burgers, while the kids eat their tomatoes cut in wedges sprinkled with a little salt and pepper.

Boil a big pot of water. Add the corn and bring it back to a boil. Once it’s returned to a boil cook for 2 minutes.

Cover the pot and turn off the heat. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes or until you are ready to eat it. It will stay warm for serving for an hour. Just add butter, salt, and pepper and you have perfect corn on the cob with no fuss!

Melissa has been working at Our Green House for 6 years. While she’s worn many hats in that time, her favorite tasks are the ones that involve counting, listing, sorting and organizing. When her babies are young enough to not cause too much havoc they tag along with her to model baby products, fill Pam’s Instagram feed and help assemble gift baskets while hanging out in the carrier. Melissa lives in the middle of the woods in a fixer-upper that she and her husband have big dreams for. They both work from home and homeschool their three kids so you can usually find them all together – working, learning, playing, and exploring. If you have questions about cloth diapers, babywearing or which baby toys stand the test of time – she’s the Our Green House employee you want to talk to!

I’ve got to remember to grab some corn at the local farmer’s market. The child’s hair looks just like the corn silk!
